Accommodation for Exchange students

If you are planning to go to Uppsala as an exchange student, please see the available housing options under "Future students". Students in Sweden are living in rooms and apartments like any other tenants and are expected to take full responsibility for their accommodation. Male and female students live on the same corridors.

Formal Exchange Students will be allocated a student room or a studio, subject to the deadline for the submission of the Housing Application Form and subject to the allocation of housing to your department.

Formal full semester, full time, exchange students from exchange agreements with a good balance between incoming and outgoing students are given priority for student housing, given that they submit their housing application to their exchange coordinator at Uppsala University on time. Please refer to the coordinator at Uppsala University for further information.

Please see information on Future students/Formal exchange students/Arrival

Housing info in brief (table). Updated April 2012.

Bed Bugs?
There has been an increase of bed bug reports over the last couple of years. All our landlords/house owners have their own insurances for this. There will be no extra cost for you for fumigation, so please report immediately if you suspect that you have them.

Bed bugs travel with peoples baggage, find shelter under beds and are active at night. They do not spread diseases. They do not survive heat over 45 degrees C, so you can put your clothes and bedsheets in the tumble drier and run them in 60 degrees for at least an hour.

It is most important that you report suspected bed bugs immediately to the housing office or your landlord. Your accommodation will be fumigated by experts (Anticimex or Nomore) and the procedures are vital for successful result. They can also provide the information you need about what you need to do for a successful result.
